SERVICE & MAINTENANCE DETAILS
Preventative Maintenance Details:
- A visual on entire array including:
- Racking
- Wire management
- Cabling
- Solar modules for shading
- Soiling or damaged/broken
- All combiners/string inverters visually checked, cleaned, filters cleaned if applicable.
- Torque checks
- VOC’s taken and documented
- IR imaging.
- Any disconnects or AC combiners on roof inspected, cleaned and IR imaging
- Repair any dead strings or if low Voc’s found, the module with bad diode will be identified/tagged.
- All communication enclosure will be visually inspected, all devices documented and if possible, will be checked for functionality.
- All DG disconnects will be visually inspected, cleaned and IR imaging taken ·
- All central inverters will be visually checked
- Current and total production will be documented
- Surge protectors checked, cleaned, hinges/door lubricated, all filters will be removed/cleaned/re installed and IR imaging at all AC/DC connections, AC area, DC area and IGBT section.
- A comprehensive report including pictures and IR imaging will be prepared and sent to customer.

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE:
SMA
RK Solar has extensive knowledge on how to diagnose stack issues and experience in replacing regular SMA stack or Semikron stacks. RK Solar can refurbish or obtain pricing on new Semikron products upon customer request.
Experienced with Central 500CP/HE inverters where troubleshooting is required:
- retrieve faults from both SD cards.
- replace motherboards
- install new firmware
- replace AC/DC contactors, DC fuses, both the main blower and the two IGBT fans
- replace the Sine filter
- replace IGBT cubes(stack).
- experience with both IGBT cubes (regular SMA cubes or Semikron)
- CP inverters which have regular SMA stack and can be retrofitted with Semikron stacks but require a few detailed modifications and Parameter changes.
Satcon
As a former Satcon/Inverpower employee with 17 years experience, RK Solar has vast experience with all Satcon Prototype inverters, extensive knowledge on how to troubleshoot inverters and can source and procure any of the parts that might be required for failed/damaged parts.
Experience:
- building numerous types/sizes of Frequency Converters used for both the Canadian and US Navy/Airport industry.
- built high current power supplies known as Choppers/Tectronics mostly used in the steel melting industries (Dow Chemicals).
- wiring power supplies from start to finish and building cooling systems.
- ordering all the fittings, flanges, hoses, high pressure hoses.
- worked closely with engineering in designing the layout for the piping, manifold locations, hose locations and path,
- cutting/brazing/soldering and painting of the raw copper pipes once completed.
- travelled the world to maintain power supplies, on site modifications and replace all fittings/hoses after wear and tear.
- worked closely with research and development to build all Satcon’s Gen 2 Solar inverters from the range of 30kW up to 1mW inverters.
- designing the inverter’s layout of all panels/devices, all major connections made up of bus bars/cables and wiring entire inverter.
- after testing and all UL/CSA approvals granted, responsible for entire inverter sub assembly and harness design for mass production.
- project managed all Gen 2 products.
- assisted with design of new Inverters called Solstice and Equinox, trained staff on manufacturing process in Boston, Freemont, and China facilities .
- continues servicing of these inverters. Service includes upgrades on site, troubleshooting issues and help field engineers for start ups.
- these services included all of Ontario, Canada, USA and Europe (Germany, Italy, Czech Republic)
